A man believed to be in his late 30s is battling for his life after being knocked down in a suspected hit-and-run incident along the Nkwanta–Kpassa road on the Eastern Corridor in the Oti Region.

When Adom News arrived at the scene, the victim was reportedly still alive but in critical condition.

The man had sustained a serious injury to his left leg, which appeared broken and was bleeding heavily.

According to some road users, the victim was discovered lying in a pool of blood at about 5:30 a.m., with no immediate assistance available at the time.

Witnesses said they were unable to determine whether he had been struck by a vehicle or a motorbike, but suspected it was a hit-and-run incident.

The matter has since been reported to the Nkwanta South Police for investigation.

As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the victim remained unknown.

The injured man was reportedly unable to speak, making it difficult for authorities and bystanders to obtain information that could help identify him or contact his relatives.

Police are expected to commence investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and trace the driver or rider involved.

Meanwhile, road users along the stretch have appealed to motorists to exercise caution and called for improved emergency response services to ensure accident victims receive prompt assistance.
