The Ghana Police Service has arrested six suspects in connection with two separate armed robbery incidents involving the theft of fertiliser and food items from warehouses in Kpone and Tema Community One.
The suspects, identified as Akala Kudus, Shaibu Dauda, Abdul Rahman Moro, Giya Hudu, Razak Seidu and Francis Ayinsabga, were picked up during intelligence-led operations carried out on June 16, 2026.
According to the Tema Regional Police Command, the first incident occurred on May 25, 2026, when a group of armed men attacked a security guard at a fertiliser warehouse in Kpone and made away with 751 bags of 50-kilogram organic fertiliser, valued at GH¢431,825.
In a second incident on June 14, 2026, another group of armed robbers reportedly overpowered security personnel at the Mummy’s Recipe Warehouse in Tema Community One and stole about 2,000 bags of Aaba rice and other food items.
Police say sustained intelligence-led investigations led officers to warehouses within the Tema enclave, where part of the stolen goods were later traced and recovered.
These include 717 bags of Aaba rice and 600 bags of fertiliser believed to have been taken from the affected facilities.
The recovered items have since been secured and are being used as exhibits to support ongoing investigations and possible prosecution.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to arrest other accomplices and recover the remaining stolen goods.
The police have also urged businesses to strengthen security at their premises and encouraged the public to report suspicious activities to help curb crime in the communities.
