Former President John Mahama has disclosed that he is not bothered by Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s constant referral to him as ‘The Incompetent One.’

Interacting with Ghanaians in a Facebook live streaming with Ghanaians on Thursday, the Flag-bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) said “he calls me ‘the Incompetent One,’ which really doesn’t bother me. I think I will continue to respond as courteously as possible, politics need not be dirty.”

To Mr Mahama, his many years of being in politics has taught him to be civil in his language and responsible in his discourse with other politicians.

“We must always be responsible in our discourse and we must be civil in the way we address each other so it does not matter if it’s uncivil to me or who abuses me or who throws insults at me and I know he calls me ‘the incompetent one’ but it does not really bother me,” he said.

Dr Bawumia in 2018, while commenting on Mr Mahama’s decision to stage a comeback during a meeting with Metropolitan and Municipal District Chief Executives in Accra, said “I hear ‘the Incompetent One’ says he wants to come back.

“He wants to come and do more damage, as if he didn’t do enough damage. Well, we’re waiting for him.”
