President John Dramani Mahama has commenced a two-day working tour of the Savannah Region aimed at inspecting ongoing development projects and engaging residents on government policies and initiatives.

The tour, which begins from Sawla, forms part of the government’s Resetting Ghana agenda focused on infrastructure development, education and economic transformation.

During the visit, President Mahama is expected to launch the National BSTEM initiative for basic schools as part of efforts to strengthen science, technology and innovation education across the country.

The President will also inspect major road projects being undertaken under the government’s Big Push Programme, including the Sawla–Wa Highway and the Bole–Tinga road.

In addition, he is expected to cut the sod for the construction of the Bole 24-hour Economy Model Market and other development projects at the Bole College of Education.

As part of the tour, President Mahama will inaugurate the Mahama ICT Centre in Damongo and commission several educational projects across the region.

The President is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on traditional authorities, including the Yagbonwura.

On Saturday, President Mahama, together with key sector ministers, will hold a community engagement session at Ndewura Jakpa Senior High School.

The engagement is expected to provide residents with the opportunity to discuss government achievements, ongoing policies and concerns affecting the Savannah Region.

The tour will conclude with an inspection of the proposed Savannah Regional Hospital project.
