A fuel tanker carrying thousands of litres of diesel overturned at Enyiresi along the Anyinam–Nkawkaw Highway following what preliminary findings indicate were poor and slippery road conditions.

The incident involved a MAN diesel tanker with registration number AS-9631-10 transporting about 56,000 litres of diesel.

Information gathered indicates the vehicle overturned by the roadside near a bush, triggering an emergency response.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and conducted a search and rescue operation to determine whether anyone had been trapped in the wreckage.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded.

Preliminary investigations suggest the accident may have been caused by a combination of ongoing road construction, loose gravel, mud created by rainfall and wet weather conditions that reduced tyre grip and affected vehicle control.

The tanker sustained partial damage to its head compartment, with estimated losses running into thousands of cedis.

The incident has renewed concerns over road safety along construction zones, particularly during periods of rainfall when driving conditions become more hazardous.
