Head of Local Government Services, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has hinted he will be embarking on what he calls Professional hunting within the local government service.
He said, in the coming days, all staff at the District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies will be asked to produce original copy of their certificate for interrogation.
He said, many staff within the local government service entered wrongly or without the required certificate thereby compromising professionalism and efficiency.
He urged all staff who have lost their certificate to do their best to recover them before it is too late.
“If the last rains washed your certificate away, please go down stream and wait for it there because you will have to bring it” Nana Ato Arthur told the staff.
He made the disclosure at the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council conference room when he interacted with staff of the various Districts, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies in the Eastern Region.
Nana Ato Arthur also called on local government workers to exhibit high level of professionalism in the discharge of their work.
He charged Chief executives of the various District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies to ensure the completion of all projects inherited from the previous government.
The head of local government services wasn’t comfortable with some staff using social media to create fear and panic within the local government Service.
Eastern regional minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour expressed his disappointment in the over reliance of District Assembly’s on central government for funds.
He said, most Districts performed poorly in mobilizing internally generated funds for development.
He however, encouraged the Assemblies to adopt modern strategies in generating revenue internally.
He is equally worried about the several dispute on administrative boundaries which have contributed to the assembly’s inability in collecting revenue in such areas.
