The main motive for the arrest of the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has been revealed.

According to his lawyer, Edudzi Tamakloe, his client has been charged for “publication of false material with the intent to cause alarm and panic.”
He revealed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday and also confirmed that, the Executive Secretary of the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo is the complainant.
Lawyer Tamakloe described the arrest by the Police Criminal Investigations Department as unlawful and an infringement on his client’s right.
He noted that following Mr Gyamfi’s first arrest, he filed two applications at the High Court, including an interlocutory injunction against another arrest, hence finds the conduct of the police very strange.
Lawyer Tamakloe was convinced the police deliberately did not respond to their letter just to perpetuate an illegality.
