Nine individuals, including Kwadwo Akofena Safo, have been granted bail in the sum of GH₵500,000, with two sureties each not to be justified in connection with an alleged shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo.

The accused persons were granted bail when they appeared before the Adentan Circuit Court on Tuesday as investigations into the incident continue.

Adom News’ Kodwo Mensah Aboroampa reported that lead counsel for the suspects, Kwame Gyan, argued in court that his clients are not a vigilante group.

According to him, the accused are members of the licensed Kantanka Security Service, a security outfit duly incorporated under the laws of Ghana.

The suspects are facing charges in connection with the incident, which occurred on Sunday, June 21, 2026, and reportedly left the former legislator injured.

Mr Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, was arrested on Monday after voluntarily reporting to the Regional Police Headquarters.

He was later transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (Criminal Investigations Department) Headquarters to assist with investigations.

Police also confirmed the arrest of two additional suspects, Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson, following the earlier arrest of six private security guards believed to be linked to the incident.
