Israel Kwadwo Safo, brother of former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, together with eight other suspects, has been arraigned before the Adenta Circuit Court over an alleged shooting incident at the Kristo Asafo Mission premises.
The suspects are facing charges in connection with the incident, which occurred on Sunday, June 21, 2026, and reportedly left the former legislator injured.
Mr Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, was arrested on Monday after voluntarily reporting to the Regional Police Headquarters. He was later transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (Criminal Investigations Department) Headquarters to assist with investigations.
Police also confirmed the arrest of two additional suspects, Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson, who are believed to be linked to the incident.
Meanwhile, six private security guards were arrested shortly after the incident on Sunday.
The development comes amid ongoing tensions within the family of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, with the family earlier distancing itself from the ceremony during which the shooting occurred.
