The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, has welcomed a delegation from Canada to explore sustainable solutions to challenges confronting the Oti Landfill Site.
The engagement followed directives from Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for discussions with the Assembly on addressing concerns surrounding the landfill facility.

The delegation was led by Mr. Craig Latimer, Chief Executive Officer of Portage Energy Group, a company that specialises in waste-to-energy technologies designed to convert waste into sustainable energy for development.
As part of the visit, the delegation toured the Oti Landfill Site to assess operational and environmental conditions at first hand and gain a better understanding of the challenges facing the facility.

The team also engaged management of JSO Waste Ltd to discuss current operations and identify potential areas for collaboration.
The visit forms part of broader efforts by the Assembly to pursue innovative and long-term waste management interventions aimed at improving sanitation, protecting the environment and creating sustainable benefits for residents of Kumasi.
