An early morning fire outbreak has destroyed a container, kiosk, and other property worth thousands of cedis at Anyinam in the Eastern Region.

The fire, which occurred on Sunday, May 17, 2026, swept through parts of the market area, consuming wooden structures and other combustible materials.

Preliminary investigations suggest the blaze may have started from burning refuse before spreading rapidly to nearby structures.

Although no injuries or fatalities were recorded, the fire destroyed a metal container, a kiosk, and several rubber bowls, with losses estimated at about GH¢10,000.

Residents and traders looked on helplessly as flames engulfed portions of the market in the early hours of the morning.

Firefighters who responded to the distress call managed to contain the blaze before it spread to adjoining shops and structures, preventing further destruction.
