Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery and the Acting Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service, James Oppong Boanu on Thursday afternoon paid a visit to the bereaved families of the two policemen who were slain at Kasoa Budumburam.

Mr Ambrose Dery together with the entourage visited the crime scene on arrival in Budumburam and afterwards went to visit the bereaved family.

Addressing the family of Sergeant Michael Dwamesi, Mr Ambrose Dery directed the acting IGP to arm officers on traffic duties.

He pledged commitment in bringing the perpetrators to book urged the family to see their son as an example they can learn from.

“Let’s remember Michael died as a hero for peace because even under the circumstances he died, he was professional enough to advise children to take cover. This is the man this family should be proud of. We should not allow Michael’s death to discourage us but take inspiration from it,” he said.

“We have been to the scene where he was first shot and where he ran into and I think Michael has served this country well and as you know, his name will be in the history of the police service that he did his work very well,” he added.

Meanwhile, the IGP, James Oppong Bonua addressing the family on behalf of the Police Service assured the family the service will stand by them in their moment of loss and they will do everything possible to stop violence against personnel of the police service.
