The two Canadian women, who were kidnapped by some unknown persons in Kumasi in the Ashanti region last week, have been rescued.

Lauren Patricia Catherine Tilley, 19, and Bailey Jordan Chitly, 20, were rescued Wednesday dawn in Sawaba, a suburb of Kumasi.

This was disclosed by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in a press statement Wednesday.

The Minister said details of the operation and ongoing efforts to ensure that similar incidents are successfully resolved would be made available in a subsequent press briefing today.

Meanwhile, Nhyira FM’s Odikooko, who confirmed the arrest on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Wednesday, said the two suspects are being interrogated at the national security office in Kumasi.

The Canadian ladies, he noted, are safe and currently being held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi.
