Executive Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko, Dr Kwame Kyei has charged Kotoko players to justify his investment.

The Porcupine Warriors have failed to record a win in their last five matches.

The management of the club was not enthused about the performance of the team which made them show Zdravko Lugarusic the exit door after 11 matches.

Assistant coach, Godwin Ablordey has been asked to take charge till the end of the first round of the season with technical support from Frimpong Manso.

Ablordey was hoping to end the winless run for the club but league champions, Wa All Stars added to the woes of the club defeating the Warriors by a lone goal in the Match Day 12 fixture.

However, Dr. Kyei has called on the players to justify themselves and fight for the club.

“I strive to do all I can to give you the best. It’s so because I want you to feel comfortable so you can give us the best,” Dr. Kyei told Kotoko players at the training grounds.

“We know how things are in most of the other clubs. We hear things. Kotoko is Kotoko. Everything here must be perfect. Such a prestigious institution has been given to us and is this how you want to play?” he asked.

“You are not playing as you are supposed to do. You know it! I watched your matches. I know what I am talking about. It’s about time you took your profession seriously. We won’t condone these poor performances any longer. You’ve to know that this is your means of livelihood. You have to be serious with it; play well as an individual and as a team. You should be committed to your profession, not to anyone outside,” he charged the players.

Kotoko lies 4th on the league log with 19 points and will play Aduana Stars on Match Day 13 at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
