Jude Michelle N. Korleh has emerged victorious in the 2026 Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Students’ Representative Council (SRC) presidential election, defeating 15 other candidates to become the university’s 66th SRC President.
The victory is a historic one, as Jude Michelle was the only female candidate among the 16 aspirants who contested.
Despite concerns over relatively low voter turnout during the election, she secured a commanding win, polling more than 6,000 votes ahead of her closest challenger.
Jude Michelle will serve alongside her running mate, Nana Kwame Oppong Antwi from the College of Engineering, who was elected as SRC Vice President.
The race featured several high-profile contenders, including Kelvin Obeng Fosu, Forstell Eshun, and Nana Boateng Agyakum, all of whom mounted strong campaigns in the lead-up to the polls.
In the days leading to the election, observations from polling centres indicated significantly lower student participation compared to previous SRC elections, with many voting stations recording sparse attendance despite the high number of candidates on the ballot.
Her victory marks a significant milestone in KNUST’s student leadership, placing her as the second womon to occupy the highest student office in the university’s history, after Yvonne Osei Adobea.
