Chiefs, queen mothers, women and traders in Juapong in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region have welcomed President John Dramani Mahama’s sod-cutting for the construction of the 24-Hour Economy Market, describing the project as a major boost to trading and local economic development.

Speaking to Adom News correspondent Odehyeba Owusu Job, the traditional leaders and traders said the modern market would provide a safer and more conducive environment for business, improve sanitation, reduce congestion and create employment opportunities for young people.

Some of the chiefs and queen mothers expressed appreciation to President Mahama for fulfilling his promise to improve market infrastructure under the government’s 24-Hour Economy policy.

They said the project would attract more customers to Juapong and stimulate economic activities in the area.

The residents also appealed to the government and the contractor to ensure the project is completed on schedule so traders can begin operating from the new facility as soon as possible.

Speaking on behalf of the chiefs and people of Juapong, Togbe Mankralo Agbohla VI, President of the Dorfor Traditional Council, thanked President Mahama for appointing Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as Minister for Foreign Affairs.

He also expressed appreciation to the President for his commitment to reviving the Juapong Textile Company Limited and other development initiatives in the area.

Togbe Agbohla VI reaffirmed the traditional leaders’ commitment to supporting the successful implementation and completion of all government development projects in the area.

The Juapong 24-Hour Economy Market is one of several markets being constructed across the country under the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative to stimulate local economic growth, support small businesses and create sustainable employment opportunities.

Note: Your original copy says “Juapong in the South Tongu District.” Juapong is in the North Tongu District, so I have corrected that in the rewrite. Also, the Foreign Affairs Minister’s surname is correctly spelt Ablakwa, not Ablakwah.
