President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to reviving the Juapong Textile Company Limited as part of efforts to revitalise Ghana’s manufacturing sector and create sustainable employment opportunities.
The President gave the assurance during his visit to Juapong in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, where he addressed chiefs and residents after cutting the sod for the construction of the 24-Hour Economy Market.
Speaking to the gathering, President Mahama said the government is determined to restore the once-thriving textile company to stimulate industrial growth and boost the local economy.
According to him, reviving the factory will create jobs for young people, promote value addition in Ghana’s textile industry and contribute to national economic development.
He said the initiative forms part of the government’s broader industrialisation agenda aimed at reopening viable state-owned enterprises and promoting local production.
President Mahama assured the chiefs and people of Juapong that the government would work with relevant stakeholders and investors to ensure the successful revival of the textile factory.
His assurance was welcomed by chiefs and residents, who expressed optimism that restoring the company would revive the town’s industrial heritage, create employment and stimulate economic activity.
