The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has called on the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to consider jailing persons perceived to be corrupt in his administration in 2018 before daring to investigate former government officials.
Akufo-Addo recently re-emphasized his commitment to the fight against corruption hinting that the coming year will witness prosecution of corrupt officials.
He was optimistic that despite the attempts to label his government as corrupt, Ghanaians will soon witness the real corrupt people in the country who have rigged the nation of its resources.
The NDC, Kofi Adams speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Thursday said remains unfazed by the threat.
He called on the President to consider jailing persons who are accused of being involved in acts of corruption in his government first before seeking to prosecute the perceived corrupt persons in the former administration.
According to him, appointees of the Akufo-Addo administration has engaged in many corrupt acts that deserve prosecution.
“Nana Addo is failing to see the glaring corrupt acts in his administration so he can prosecute NDC people he accused of being corrupt during campaign…if he is serious about fighting corruption, he should try and prosecute the corrupt guys in his administration first…,” he said.
According to Kofi Adams, the President’s claim that the NDC is only forcibly seeking to tag his government as corrupt is nothing but a ‘cover up’ of the wrong doings in his administration.
“Nana Addo is only doing a cover up, he is only refusing to see the wrong in his administration and is that a way of fighting corruption?” he quizzed.
Kofi Adams further called the bluff of the President claiming further that the appointees of former President Mahama are unfazed by his threats at jailing them.
