New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nhyiaeso Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Kennedy Kankam, has told members of the National Democratic Congress (NPP) that the Inter-Party Advisory Committee meetings (IPAC) are not platforms for dictating to the EC.

The MP said he finds the NDC’s posture regarding decisions of the Electoral Commission (EC) during IPAC meetings as disrespectful.

Speaking on Adom TV Badwam show, Mr Kankam said he believed the posture of the NDC was a manifestation of what the party’s Chairman, Mr Ofosu Ampofo allegedly said in a leaked tape that “we must wage a relentless war on this EC chair. Me, she doesn’t want to see my face.”

“We need to be serious as a country; IPAC is not for dictation. Asiedu Nketiah’s long stay in politics does not give him the impetus to misbehave at IPAC meetings or makes what he says as final.”

“How will he [Asiedu Nketia] feel if someone laughs or disrespects him at their party’s meeting as he did at the IPAC meeting or is he superhuman and why is the NDC interested in denting the integrity of the EC,” he quizzed in Twi.

The NDC has been in the news lately for clashing with the EC over a decision to conduct an upcoming limited registration exercise at electoral body’s district offices.

The General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has also accused the Commission of treating IPAC members with contempt.
