The student who held a one-man protest against the inhumane treatment of students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has revealed what pushed him into his actions.

Harvey Baah Mintah linked their stay on campus to an animal farm characterized by tyranny and oppression.

One of the placards he held on campus read: ‘KNUST: The New Animal Farm’ ‘Four legs good, two legs bad’ and ‘students are living in fear’.

Sharing his motivation on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Monday, Harvey Baah Mintah said security guards responsible to ensure law and order, rather used students as ‘punching bags’.

“In KNUST, the palace guard is more royal than the prince so students were maltreated by security guards who acted on orders from above,” he bemoaned.

Harvey Baah Mintah noted the Vice-Chancellor was christened ‘Kumasi Adolf Hitler’ because Prof Obiri Danso had become an autocratic leader.

The KNUST student affiliated with Continental Hall said he will continue to protest until all unpopular decisions on campus are reversed.

Harvey Baah Mintah is at home with more than 45,000 Ghanaian students at KNUST as the government and school authorities find an amicable solution to a conflict that has erupted as a result of an alleged oppression of students.

Meanwhile, a group calling itself Concerned Students of KNUST is calling for a students forum where concerns could be raised and addressed as he appeared to have scant regard for the capacity of SRC to represent students’ views.
