The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey is warning the general public against engaging with an account under her name on social media.

According to the Minister who indicated this in a statement released on November 26, some persons have impersonated her on Facebook are using the medium to dupe people both in Ghana and abroad.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey is not on any social media platform, and therefore has no Facebook account,” the statement indicated.

She, therefore, cautioned the public against accepting friend requests on all social media platforms in her name in order not to fall prey to the unscrupulous activities of these imposters.

This is not the first time a Government official has had to come out warning the public against such imposters on social media.

The likes of former President Jerry John Rawlings, former Foreign Affairs Minister, Hannah Tetteh, Communications Minister Ursula Owusu Ekuful and Second Lady Samira Bawumia have all been victims of imposters.
