Rachel Appoh

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central constituency, Rachel Appoh says she has no intention to contest the 2020 general election.

According to her, she is currently undertaking her third Masters in Counseling, thus will not get time for campaign.

This notwithstanding, Ms Appoh said she will work assiduously for former President John Dramani Mahama to come back to power.

In an interview with Afia Pokua (Vim Lady) on Vim Talk show, Hon. Appoh said after the turf war between her and Nana Oye Lithur, who was her immediate boss at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the party hasn’t made any effort to resolve their differences, especially the traditional chiefs in the Central region who were worried about their misunderstanding at the Ministry and wanted to settle the issue.

She added that, though many party members and some executives have called to express their disappointment in her decision, she is only interested in working for the NDC to regain their seat in Gomoa Central.

The MP added that she has shaped all her ambitions to work vigorously for the next parliamentary candidate to regain the seat of Gomoa Central constituency and also to bring back Mr Mahama.

Hon. Appoh also called on party executives to apologise to the traditional chiefs in the Central region for the misunderstanding that happened between her and Nana Oye Lithur.

She believes the traditional chiefs in the Central region feel disrespected due to the treatment meted out to her by her former boss.
