Controversial former AIDS ambassador Joyce Dzidzor Mensah has disclosed that she used to take post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) after she was potentially exposed to HIV in order to prevent getting infected.
Joyce Dzidzor Mensah who previously claimed an HIV Positive status and later recanted it, following the end of her ambassadorial role by the Ghana AIDS Commission noted that “I use to take HIV drugs but not as a patient of the virus”.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso on the “Delay show”, Joyce said she opened up on her status because the Ghana Aids Commission failed to honor their promise to her after she came out publicly to encourage “depressed” people living with the HIV virus.
She hinted that, “if not because of the fallout I wouldn’t have come out to disclose my HIV status, the Aids Commission didn’t go by their words, they promised to stay with me through times of hardship and they failed”.
After making those claims, Joyce Mensah however faced her biggest embarrassment during the interview by unjustly accusing Ghanaian journalists of not properly investigating issues before they bring out reports.
“Ghanaian journalists are sometimes lazy. When people are about to make certain ‘moves’, you go on behind the person and investigate,” she said on the show which will be aired on Sunday, September 16.
But Delay rebuffed her claims by quizzing her on her inconsistencies.
“We can’t investigate someone like you because you are inconsistent in your accounts. You claim you have HIV/AIDS today and deny later, your storyline is inconsistent”.
