Renowned Nigerian musician, Timaya has shared a heartbreaking story of his battle with drug addiction, revealing how it took a toll on his finances, physical and mental well-being.

In an interview, he revealed he fell victim to addiction in 2020 during the COVID 19 period when he moved in with friends.

He recounted how they introduced him to marijuana and he advanced to grade A drugs.

Initially, he found temporary happiness in substance use but soon became ensnared by addiction, leading to reckless behavior.

“When I took it, I didn’t understand myself. I was happy but for a short period. I got addicted to it and it messed me up. I almost died because I wasn’t eating or sleeping. I lost myself and it was very obvious,” he said.

The consequence of his drug adduction was losing multiple contracts, getting kicked out of jobs and losing close associates who do not subscribe to his recklessness.

According to him, not only did he moved from grace to grass during the addiction phase, he lost considerable weight, sparking rumors of ill health.

“In that period, I lost so much weight. Initially people thought I had hit the gym, but they later realized something was wrong with me. My fans would flood my DMs advising me to take it slow with the drugs:.

It took a tough battle, he said, for him to break free from the addiction and turn back to the right track.

Through his story, he hopes to inspire others to confront their struggles and seek a path to redemption and healing.
