Hundreds of mourners, family members, friends and members of Ghana’s creative arts community gathered on Saturday, September 26, 2026, to pay their final respects to visual artist and Guinness World Record holder Sharon Dede Padi, affectionately known as Padiki.
The funeral rites for the renowned artist, who died on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, began with a pre-burial service at the Forecourt of the State House in Osu.
She was subsequently laid to rest following the burial service, as mourners celebrated a life marked by creativity, cultural preservation and mentorship.
Padiki, founder and CEO of Padiki Art Gallery, earned international recognition after setting a Guinness World Record for the largest leaf-print painting.
Her record-breaking 54.33-square-metre artwork, created entirely from natural leaves, depicted the Ghanaian flag and highlighted her innovative approach to art and the use of sustainable materials.
Beyond her record, Padiki was widely admired for her commitment to promoting Ghanaian culture and creating opportunities for emerging artists.
Through the Padiki Art Gallery and several artistic initiatives, she championed creativity, mentorship and the use of visual art as a medium for storytelling and cultural expression.
A memorial service in her honour was held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Calvary Methodist Church in Adabraka.
