A 21-year-old woman has been arrested by the Beposo police in the Ashanti Region for allegedly dumping the body of a one week old baby in a bush.
The Nsuta Chief Inspector, Emmanuel Sakyi who confirmed the incident to Nhyira FM’s Nana Boaten said the suspect whose name was only given as Ama had gone to the bush on Monday dawn ostensibly to dump refuse.
While trying to dump the contents of a basket she was carrying, her presence aroused the suspicion of her neighbor, Maame Yaa Oforiwa.
According to the neighbor, she got closer to her and realized that what she was passing off as refuse, was a baby dressed in a white sweater concealed in a cloth.
She was therefore arrested and taken to the police station upon a tip off.
During interrogation, she told the police she was forced to dump the baby because she cannot cater for the child.
The baby who was feeling feverish is receiving treatment at the hospital.
