Former Greater Accra Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo is advocating death penalty for corrupt public office holders in the country.

In his view, the death penalty option is the only way to put public officers in Ghana in check.

Lion, as he is popularly called, made the comment while endorsing an upcoming demonstration against corruption.

The demonstration which is being organized by Adom FM, a brand in leading media brand in Ghana, Multimedia Group is meant to raise awareness on the high rate of corruption in the country, especially among state actors.

Host of the Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’, Captain Smart would lead tens of tens of thousands of Ghanaians from Accra and beyond to present a petition to the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) calling for investigation and prosecution of persons named in various reports especially the Auditor General’s report.

In support, the former Greater Accra Regional Minister who served in the erstwhile Mahama government said the call is imperative because corruption could kill more people than a conventional weapon.

Having served in government for the past eight years, the former Minister said he is yet to set his eyes on $1 million dollars.

“If our public servants know they would be prosecuted if found culpable of engaging in corruption, they would be on their toes”.
