The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sam Pyne, has taken a swipe at the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia for claiming the President has legalised same-sex marriages in Ghana.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia is reported to have made the allegation against the government during the NDC’s Unity Walk in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, saying “Nana Addo says men will marry men and women will marry women”, under his government.

Addressing a large crowd of NDC supporters at Kumasi last Saturday, Asiedu Nketia made reference to the 2016 electioneering year, arguing that the incumbent President while in opposition at the time promised the Ghanaian youth marriages when elected into office.
Meanwhile, the Presidency in a statement Saturday labelled the commentary of the General Secretary as “baseless” contending that President Akufo-Addo has never made such proclamations on any platform.

But Sam Pyne described his colleague as a comedian who does not act as a General Secretary of a political party.
“I see Asiedu Nketia as a comedian because he always wants to joke with even serious issues and that does not help our economy. To me, anything he says is senseless. He has always been a comedian and it’s time he sits up and acts as a politician and a general secretary of a political party”, he said on Accra-based Neat FM.

According to Sam Pyne, it’s beyond his imagination why the NDC, especially Asiedu Nketia must have such thoughts about President Akufo Addo.
Sam Pyne says the President remains focused on delivering on his mandate and improving the quality of lives of the Ghanaians rather than legalising same-sex marriage in Ghana.
