The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr has revealed that President Akufo Addo will soon speak on the Ghana-US defense cooperation agreement.
According to him, the President made the decision to speak on the issue and has finally decided to address the nation this week in order to put the matter to rest.
“There is this talk that the President must speak. Last week the President took a decision to speak on the matter this week. Let’s hear him and when we do, we have more to discuss” he said.

Mr. Kweku Baako made this known on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Tuesday.
National Democratic Congress [NDC] Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has challenged President Nana Akufo-Addo to renegotiate the Ghana-US defense cooperation agreement that has received widespread criticism from the public.
In an open letter to the President, Mr. Ablakwa said the President’s silence on the matter was uncharacteristic of the man known to be very vocal.

He said the President’s silence and the government’s attempts to divert attention from the matter with the “the high-handed and dramatic arrest of Koku Anyidoho and the change of name of the Flagstaff House to Jubilee House have so far not worked according to plan.”
But Mr. Kweku Baako believes the President’s decision to speak on the issue will put the matter to rest.

According to him, Ex-president John Mahama gave approval for Ghana to be used as a base for a US military operation that will protect “US citizens and facilities in the sub-region.”
He said he is scandalized by the position taken by the Minority especially when it signed similar agreements with the US in government.
