The exercise is aimed at maximising revenue for the GRA

The Debt Management and Compliance Unit of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has shut down Intelligence Metering and Energy Solutions over GH¢ 6.8 million tax defaults.

Head of Debt and Compliance Unit at GRA, Michael Sefa told Adom News the GH¢ 6.8 million is an accumulated debt from 2015.

“We have issued several warning letters to management of Intelligence Metering and Energy Solutions to come and pay but they failed so we have to come and lock the place,” he said.

He added that the company has up to one week to come to GRA office to negotiate for payment plans.

On the other hand, Miklin Hotel was nearly closed down.

They owe GRA GH¢2.8 million.

The debt is from 2017 to 2019.

Management of the hotel managed to pay GH¢c 1 million after the Debt Management and Compliance Unit stormed the premises to shut the company down.

After few minutes negotiation with GRA officials, Miklin Hotel authorities were given one hour to pay their debt.

“After the one hour grace period, Miklin Hotel management presented GH¢ 1 million cheque to us, two separate cheques were given. Five hundred Ghana cedis to be cashed this Friday and the next half to be cashed next week Friday,” the head of Debt Management and Compliance Unit said.

Mr Sefa explained again that, he was optimistic the cheque would go through but if it bounces then management of Miklin Hotel will find themselves in another trouble.
