A Good Samaritan who tried to rescue a lady from maltreatment she faced at the hands of her boyfriend has died from burnt wounds he suffered from the jealous boyfriend.
Peter Amankwah Kodua died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where he and the lady had been sent for medical treatment after a room in which they were sleeping was set ablaze by one Denkyi, who is at large.
Greater Accra Regional Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Inspector Kwabena Danso, narrated to Adom News that the deceased chose to be a Good Samaritan and offer shelter to Charity Amankwa who was a girlfriend to Dankyi.
According to the Police Inspector, Dankyi following a quarrel with Charity threw her out of a room they occupied and was offered shelter by the deceased.
While the two slept at night, Dankyi is believed to have with the aid of a fuel which he sprinkled around their room set their room ablaze leading to the two sustaining serious burns.
The two sustained after sustaining serious burns and were rushed to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment but Kodua died later. Charity was however treated and discharged.
The father of the deceased, Nana Koduah however blamed hospital authorities for his death as according to him, there was delay in offering him treatment.
He is of the view that the son would have survived the burns if the doctors had been proactive enough.
“We could not even find the ambulance driver…we only found him later asleep and after transferring him from one hospital to the other, he died…,” he told Adom News.
