The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Richard Gyan-Mensah, has visited communities affected by recent flooding in the constituency to assess the extent of destruction caused by heavy rainfall.
The inspection tour was conducted alongside the District Chief Executive, Mohammed Kassim, and officials from National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) from both the Central Region and Gomoa West District.

The visit followed Tuesday’s heavy downpour, which caused widespread damage to roads, homes and businesses across parts of the constituency.
At Mumford and Gomoa Hweida, temporary road diversions created to support ongoing storm drain construction works were washed away by floodwaters, disrupting movement and cutting off access between affected communities.

According to the MP, contractors have already begun emergency works to restore the damaged diversions and reconnect residents.
The delegation also toured several affected properties, including homes, shops, a poultry farm, and the Eat and Ride Restaurant and Guesthouse, where flooding reportedly forced business activities to come to a standstill.

Mr. Gyan-Mensah said concerns raised during the visit have been escalated to the contractor handling the project as well as the regional roads authorities for urgent attention.
He expressed sympathy to affected residents and assured them that immediate interventions were being pursued while engagements continue on long-term engineering measures aimed at preventing recurring flood incidents in the constituency.
