Team Ghana’s captain Joseph Paul Amoah has booked his place in the semi-finals of the men’s 200m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after delivering a commanding run in the heats.
The national 200m record holder clocked 20.36 seconds to qualify for the semi-finals, continuing his impressive form on the international stage.
Amoah qualified with Jamaica’s Christopher Taylor in his heat, who also clocked 20.36s.
The captain, who won a 200m bronze medal for Ghana at the 2022 Games in Birmingham, controlled the race from the curve to comfortably advance as he targets another podium finish in Glasgow.
Amoah returns on Thursday for the semi-finals to secure a spot in the final and lead Ghana’s sprint campaign from the front.
