The Black Stars returned to training at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday as they stepped up preparations for Tuesday’s crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against The Gambia.
Carlos Queiroz’s side held a recovery and training session less than 48 hours after returning from Bouaké, where Ghana opened their Group C campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday.
The loss left the four-time African champions chasing their first points of the qualifying campaign, making the home fixture against The Gambia an early test of their bid to secure a place at the 2027 tournament.
The squad trained on the Accra Sports Stadium pitch as Queiroz and his technical team began fine-tuning their plans for the Matchday Two encounter.
Ghana are expected to hold one final training session on Monday before taking on The Gambia on Tuesday, 29 September, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 GMT.
The Black Stars are aiming to return to the Africa Cup of Nations after missing out on the previous edition in Morocco, ending a run of more than two decades of consecutive appearances at the continental finals.
The 2027 AFCON will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
