The Electoral Commission of Ghana has issued a provisional certificate to a new political party, Power Unity Party (PUP), making it the 26th party in the country.

The party was founded by Prophet Eliyahu Boateng with Sankofa as their slogan with red and gold as the party’s colours.

According to the founder, the party believes and supports the idea of ensuring sustainable economic development, through better utilization of the agricultural sector.

Some of the policies he said the party will be introducing include agricultural reconstructive Programmes to mechanize the agricultural sector to make it attractive for people to patronize.

Others include promoting industrialization, youth empowerment programmes and policies to educate the people and equip them to have active roles to play in the field of agriculture; education, health, sanitation, road, transport, housing, trade and tourism.

The Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations at the EC, Amadu Sulley assured that the commission will do diligence in ensuring fairness in its mandate to ensure that all political parties operate within the confines of the laws.

He advised PUP to make sure they adhere to all the regulations within the 30 days period during which the commission will crosscheck the information submitted by the party.
