The head of corporate communication at Ghana, Kobi Hemaa Osisiadan Bekoe has dismissed claims by the NIA that it did not adequately educate Ghanaians on the Ghana post address which is a requirement for the Ghana card registration.
Speaking on Citi FM, Kobi Hemaa Bekoe said Ghana Post has done all that is expected of them in sensitizing the public about the uses of the Ghana Post GPS address, not just for the Ghana card Project but also for other uses.

“We started the education about two weeks ago but since most of the residents in Adenta are mostly not at home on weekdays and we cannot also continue the programme in the evening, we have intensified the sensitization programme during the weekend. As I speak now, our team is still on the field,” she said
Her statement was a reaction to the boss of the National Identification Authority Ken Attafuah’s comment that the Ghana Post has not done enough in educating Ghanaians about the necessity of the Ghana Post GPS address.

Meanwhile, according to the Centre for Socioeconomic Studies, an investigation carried by their team reveals that some individuals were prevented from registering due to their inability to provide a digital address code.
However, the NIA has argued that “the refusal is illegal to the extent that the provision of a digital address code is not an eligibility criterion under the National Identity Register Act, 2008 (Act 750) as amended by the National Identity Register (Amendment) Act, 2017 (Act 950).”
