Traders, farmers, drivers and commuters who ply the Twifo Praso-Awusem-Dunkwa On Offin road in the Central region are threatening to boycott the 2020 general elections over bad roads.

According to them, the bad state of the road is affecting trading activities in the area.

Some traders and commuters who spoke to Adom News said foodstuffs like cassava, plantain, vegetables and farm produce worth thousands of cedis usually go waste as a result of the deplorable nature of the road.

“There’s no essence of voting again, if government can’t provide simple social amenity like road” they retorted.

Also, a Cocoa Purchasing Clark at Swedru-Akwapim in Assin Fosu Municipality, Francis Martey and some cocoa farmers said they are unable to transport their farm produce to the market centres due to bad road.

The farmers noted that, the road between Ewusem, Swedru-Akwapim and Kodwo Mbra is now a death trap.

The situation, they added becomes worse when it rains and foodstuff are left to rot.

They indicated that, the bad road has affected health delivery and pregnant women in labour have to walk for miles before they can access healthcare.

Meanwhile, the Assin Fosu Municipal Chief Executive, Nickolas Fifi Baako appealed for calm as they work to fix the road.
