Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga is claiming Energy Minister-designate tried to influence them with money to approve his nomination.

According to him, the Minority Whip, Muntaka Mohammed gave each member GH¢3000 to agree to the approval of Mr. Boakye Agyarko.

Mr. Ayariga made this explosive revelation in an exclusive interview on Accra-based Radio Gold Friday.

He noted that, they received the money thinking it was payment of their sitting allowance, only to be told later that the money was coming from Boakye Agyarko. They therefore had to return the money.

Background

Boakye Agyarko and Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo are the two ministers designate belatedly approved by a Majority decision. The Minority members on the Committee failed to their blessing for the approval of the two.

Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu says the two have unfinished business with the committee following unsubstantiated claims they made during their vetting.

But after voting, the House by a Majority decision approved the nomination of Mr. Osafo Maafo and Mr. Boakye Agyarko.
