Head coach of AshantiGold, Bashir Hayford have showered praises on his players despite losing by a lone goal to Aduana Stars in Dormaa.

The Obuasi based club who escaped relegation last season will be hoping to avoid the torrid season they experienced but failed to take their opportunities in the opening day of the 2016/17 campaign.

Derrick Sasraku broke the deadlock on the 80th minute through a header which secured all the three points for the Dormaa based club but Coach Bashiru Hayford believes his players did very well despite lose.

“My boys did very well. Playing Aduana Stars in the first away match is not easy at all and we all saw it,” he told Asempa FM.

“Winning here or even taking a point is very difficult so we are happy we did not disgrace ourselves. We played very well but with football, there should be a result and they were able to get a corner kick, headed it home and we were down by one goal.”

“It was a fantastic play by my boys so I’m not disappointed at all. “I know the team will be very strong in future.”

AshantiGold will welcome Premier League returnees Accra Great Olympics at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Match Day two.
