Government has begun talks with Togo to avert a potential boundary clash similar to that of the Ghana-Ivoirian dispute.

This is after former Attorney General, Marrietta Brew Oppong and institute of Surveyors urged government to engage Togo before any dispute escalates into a full legal battle.

Talks between both countries have been on as Ghana seeks to protect its oil reserves along the Volta basin.

However, neighboring Togo is raising objections, indicating that Ghana has trespassed her boundaries.

Major stakeholders including industry regulator Petroleum Commission are aiming for Togo to agree to the boundary lines so they can continue prospecting the new oil fields.
