A leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has reacted to the 786 patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

The private legal practitioner, who is also President Nana Akufo-Addo’s cousin, reacted in a post on his Facebook wall.

According to him, if out of 5,638 positive cases of Covid-19, 28 have died and only eight are critically/moderately ill, then “we should expect recoveries to grow.”

He said: 1,460 recoveries so far and there will be more. Ghana has had a tough regime of 2 negatives tests over 2 weeks before declaring any covid-19 patient recovered, against global norm. Noguchi puts average duration of 17 days for clearance of the virus. Only 8 of 5,638 cases are ill.

Akufo-Addo will find money to fund construction of ’88 hospitals’ – Gabby tells NDC

If out of 5,638 positive cases of Covid-19, 28 have sadly died & only eight are critically/moderately ill, then we should expect recoveries to grow. But, we can only keep the infection rate down if we rate higher the measures to combat the virus. Wear your mask, keep your distance.

Ghana’s recoveries jumped to 1,460 from the initial 674 as of the last update.

The latest development comes on the back of an announcement by the service that the country’s total number of confirmed Covid-19 has also jumped to 5,638.
