A suspect linked to a violent home invasion in October 2025 has been arrested in Assin Fosu following a citizen’s arrest, bringing an end to a months-long search.

The accused, Kofi Awuakye, an unemployed resident of the area, has been arraigned before the Assin Fosu District Court and charged with unlawful entry, unlawful possession of an offensive weapon, and causing harm.

The charges stem from an incident on October 29, 2025, when the victim, local farmer Kwabena Atta, reportedly woke up in the early hours to discover an intruder in his home.

According to police reports, the suspect—allegedly Awuakye—was ransacking the house while armed with a knife. When the victim raised an alarm, he was attacked and sustained injuries to his back and right shoulder before the suspect fled.

The victim was later treated and provided a medical report, which formed part of the police investigation.

The suspect reportedly evaded arrest for several months until June 3, 2026, when the victim spotted him at the Adiembra Lorry Station in Assin Fosu.

With the help of bystanders, the victim managed to apprehend the suspect and hand him over to the police.

Although the suspect has denied the allegations during interrogation, police say they have gathered sufficient evidence to proceed with prosecution. The case is ongoing at the Assin Fosu District Court.
