Assistant coach of Accra Hearts on Oak, Henry Wellington has revealed that only four out of the many players in the club has reported for pre-season training.
The Accra-based club commenced pre-season this week to prepare for an upcoming game against arch rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The players, were scheduled to start training with Assistant coach, Henry Wellington since Scottish trainer, Frank Nuttall is out of the country.
But to his surprise, only four of the players have reported for the training exercise with many promising to join the team next week.
“Only four players have reported and most of them have communicated they will join the preseason by next week”, the Assistant Coach revealed in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Morning Show.
Henry Wellington further stated that the decision to start training was not made out vacuum but instead based on the instructions of his boss, Frank Nuttall.
“I spoke with Coach Nuttall and he asked me to start training only when salaries have been paid and that has been done that is why we started on Monday…,” he said.
Coach Wellington bemoaned the declining fortunes of the club especially when they have a crucial match with rival,  Kumasi Asante Kotoko on December 24, 2017.
“We need to prepare to play Asante Kotoko on 24th but I am sad with how the pre-season is going because this is how it was last season and could repeat itself. We didn’t have a good preseason and that cost us.”
Coach Wellington insisted the Scottish trainer is not angry with the club and is expected in the country this weekend to lead the technical team.
