Four people have been arrested in connection to the horrific killing of the commanding officer of a military detachment guarding a mine at Denkyira Boase in the Upper Denkyira West District of in the Central Region.

The men were arrested after an initial investigation revealed they played a role in the murder of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama of the 5th Battalion Infantry.

An Assembly Member alleged to have organized the mob attack which led to the death of the soldier is on the run, police have said.

The officer, Captain Maxwell Mahama who was said to have gone for jogging Tuesday morning was lynched by a mob after they allegedly mistook him for an armed robber because he was in possession of a weapon.

The Public Relations Officer for Central region, ASP Irene Oppong confirmed this to Joy News Tuesday.

She indicated that the five will be transferred to Cape Coast for further interrogation by the regional CID to enable them prepare the charge sheet for court.

ASP Irene Oppong also revealed that the police has mounted a manhunt for the other suspects currently on the run.

Meanwhile, after a meeting between the police and the military high command, they agreed the regional police taken over investigations into the murder of the military officer.

The military hierarchy has been to the scene to gather some evidence to aid their investigation of the matter, Nhyira FM’s Ohemeng Tawiah reported.

  1. it’s no surprise the indiscipline and lawlessness by some youths in the country have now jumped into the Military to lynch them, Officers who are disciplined and law abiding, God save Ghana.

It very bad, I know the town very well they are very rebellious and bad.The police should not leave any stone unturn during the investigations and all those involved should brought to book.some of the people are hiding in the neighboring villages such as denkyira besease, dominase denkyira anwaiwai.

    I only suggest that our soldiers should be given the mandate to discipline anyone involved in the captain’s death at the Independence square and live on all television stations to serve as a national deterrent to us all.

    We are waiting patiently for that day
    It must happen
    People must feel the pain for this unscrupulous act.

    For once let’s our voices be heard.

  4. Hmmmm when institutions do not perform effectively this is what happens. It is so sad to witness such a gruesome murder of an innocent Captain but while blaming the murderers we must strengthen the institutions in order to build the CONFIDENCE THE POPULACE SHOULD HAVE IN THEM. IT IS A TEST CASE FOR THE GOVERNMENT.

Comment:infact if these people who did this cruel act are not tortured and dead Ghana will not have rest because no man have any right to take another person’s life how can Ghanians be so so wicked,i believe in justice and justice is a well example of former president Jerry John Rawlings infact in his reign no Ghanian who go ahead to do such a cruel act like that leaving his family lonely and even what will the mother tell her children when they grow and ask of the where about of their father,Ghanians we have to also think before taking actions, how can you hust see someone doing his morning training and put blame on him that he is a thief ,because captain Maxwell Adam Mahama was a peaceful and patriotic Ghanian if it was me i will go ahead and give a warning shot and if any man or woman comes close to attack me i will pull the triggar towards his or her leg or hand to scare them but he is a peaceful man indeed i haven’t seen a patriotic Ghanian like him,may his good soul rest in perfect peace AMEN.
