Two separate fire outbreaks in the Greater Accra Region have destroyed commercial and residential structures in Nungua and Odorkor Official Town, causing significant property losses but no reported casualties.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the incidents occurred on Thursday, August 6, in the Krowor and Ga Central municipalities.
The first fire was recorded along Old Kasaperko Road in Nungua, where a metal container being used for commercial activities was completely engulfed by flames.
The GNFS said the incident was reported at 3:38 am, and firefighters arrived at the scene at 3:53 am to find the container fully ablaze.

The fire was brought under control by 4:00 am, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. However, the container and all items inside were destroyed, with no property recovered from the scene.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded.
The second incident occurred at Odorkor Official Town near Adi Junction, affecting both residential and commercial structures.
The fire was reported at 2:08 am, and the emergency response team arrived at 2:27 am to find flames spreading through several wooden structures.
Three wooden residential structures containing occupants’ personal belongings were destroyed, while another wooden structure serving as a mechanic’s workshop storeroom was also razed.
The GNFS said the fire posed a threat to nearby buildings but was contained before spreading to other adjoining wooden structures.
No casualties were recorded in the Odorkor incident, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Authorities have also not yet disclosed the cause of the Nungua fire.
