A fire outbreak has destroyed the studio of Nobyah Radio/TV Station in Nalerigu in the North East Region after flames swept through part of the media facility in the early hours of Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The fire, which had reached an advanced stage before emergency responders arrived, threatened to spread to other sections of the station.

Firefighters battled the blaze using water supplied by commercial water vendors and eventually brought it under control after successfully confining the fire to the station’s studio.

Their intervention prevented the flames from extending to the rest of the building, significantly limiting the spread of the fire.

Although no injuries or casualties were reported, the blaze completely destroyed the station’s studio as well as broadcasting and production equipment, resulting in substantial damage to its operational infrastructure.

The incident has also raised concerns about emergency response capacity in the area, particularly the availability of adequate firefighting resources to protect critical public facilities.

Calls have been made for a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire, as well as a review of emergency preparedness measures to help prevent similar incidents in the future.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established, while authorities are expected to assess the full extent of the damage.
