Some chiefs from the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area are calling on President John Dramani Mahama to urgently intervene in what they describe as rising tension and insecurity in the enclave.
According to the traditional leaders, the situation is becoming increasingly worrying and could escalate into serious unrest if swift action is not taken.
The chiefs say residents are living in fear as uncertainty continues to grow in the area. They warned that any prolonged instability could threaten peace not only within the local communities but also affect national interest.
Speaking at a media briefing, spokesperson for the chiefs, Nana Enu Kpanyinli Annor Amihere, appealed to the government and the Ministry of the Interior to step in immediately to help restore calm and ensure justice and security prevail.
He stressed that the Eastern Nzema area plays a critical role in Ghana’s economy and energy sector because it hosts the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant, one of the country’s major energy facilities.

According to him, any conflict or prolonged disturbance in the area could have serious consequences for national energy supply and economic activities.
Nana Amihere also urged government to prioritise dialogue and mediation in addressing the issues fueling the tension.
He said traditional authorities remain committed to maintaining peace and stability but require the support of the state to prevent the situation from escalating.
The chiefs further appealed to residents and all stakeholders to remain calm and avoid actions that could inflame tensions while efforts are underway to resolve the matter peacefully.
They emphasised the need for unity, cooperation, and respect for lawful processes in order to preserve peace in the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area.
The chiefs expressed hope that President John Dramani Mahama and relevant state institutions would respond swiftly to their concerns in order to protect lives and property and maintain stability in the area..
