The accident scene

Family members of a man who died with his wife and eight months old baby in the Cape Coast-Takoradi Highway accident say they will need the help of a psychologist before they can break the news of the death to his two children who survived the accident that killed 34 people.

Brother of the deceased, Michael Nyarko Asare, says although it is two weeks after the unfortunate incident, it is difficult to inform the children because they were closely attached to their parents.

Isaac Awuku Ansah, 43, his wife Martha Ninson and their eight months old baby died in the ghastly accident.

Their eight-year-old son regained consciousness some days ago and had to undergo surgery on Monday.

“It’s is not going to be easy and so we need the help of a psychologist before we break the news to them. They are children and we can’t do it alone as a family because it is not going to be an easy task for us and so we believe a clinical psychologist will do a much better work,” he told Joy News.

Narrating what he saw when he went to the morgue on the day of the incident, Mr Asare said what he saw was not pleasant to the eye.

“What we saw was very bad. My brother was badly injured. Half of his face was gone with broken arms. The wife was hurt too but not badly injured, she had a metal go through her head and that was what killed her and the baby was also badly injured. I can’t talk about it anymore,” he cried.
