The Accra High Court has dismissed an application filed by Ghanaian socialite Fredrick Kum, popularly known as Abu Trica, seeking to stop his extradition to the United States.

His lawyers, on May 19, 2026, filed a certiorari application seeking to quash a ruling by the Gbese District Court, which authorised his extradition in connection with ongoing criminal proceedings in the US.

The ruling, delivered on July 2, 2026, paves the way for Ghanaian authorities to hand over the suspect, who is wanted by the US government in connection with serious criminal charges.

Abu Trica, a Ghanaian national, has been at the centre of a high-profile extradition battle after the United States formally requested his surrender.

He is wanted in the US for alleged involvement in financial crimes, including wire fraud and money laundering.

Kum is facing charges linked to an alleged romance scam network accused of defrauding elderly victims of more than $8 million.
