Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has been elected the new Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
COKA secured 663 votes to beat his sole contender, former Bantama Member of Parliament, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who obtained 269 votes.
The results were announced after voting and the collation of ballots at the Ashanti Regional NPP executive elections.
COKA, a former Afigya Sekyere South Constituency Chairman, will now take charge of the party’s regional administration as the NPP seeks to strengthen its grassroots structures and reorganise ahead of the 2028 general elections.
His victory ends the closely watched two-horse contest between the two candidates.
The Ashanti Region, considered a major stronghold of the NPP, is expected to play a significant role in the party’s efforts to rebuild following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
